About Russell Copelan, MD
Russell Copelan, MD, is a retired emergency department psychiatrist. He graduated from Stanford University and UCLA Medical School. He originally trained in neurosurgery. He completed residency and emergency psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, Irvine, and University of Colorado, Denver. He was a faculty member of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and affiliated hospitals. His groundbreaking findings were published by Psychological Assessment Resources, Inc. (PAR), the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, and Pediatrics in Review. He was designated a Subject Matter Expert by the XVI World Psychiatric Congress, Committee on Psychiatric Emergencies, Psychological Assessment Resources, Inc. (PAR), and the U.S. Psychiatric & Mental Health Congress. Dr. Copelan is a reviewer for the journal Academic Psychiatry, a certified NIH principal investigator, and full-time contributor to MedPage Today.
